Burial service

Traditional burial, in which a casket is interred in a cemetery, is
still a very common custom. Some families prefer to gather around
the grave and maintain the traditional ceremony.
Mausoleum entombment, in which the deceased is placed in a crypt (a
space in the wall), is still relatively unknown, but those who have
become familiar with it have found it to be their preferred choice.
Columbarium
We have two columbaria, one adjoining the main entrance and the other
in a special part of the mausoleum exclusively devoted to indoor and
outdoor niches for funeral urns. Placement in one of our columbaria
is within the reach of any budget, depending on the location and size
of the niche selected.
Indoor columbarium
The urn may be placed in a niche in the columbarium. Niches are cavities
in the wall, behind a protective glass. A photo and objects that were
cherished by the deceased may be placed inside as mementos.
The Bessette family has devoted special attention to its indoor columbarium,
which is very popular with its magnificent wrought-iron gate and its
illuminated niches.
Outdoor columbarium
Every niche in the outdoor columbarium is covered by a granite plaque
engraved with the name of the deceased. Comparable to a cemetery,
this outdoor space for contemplation provides maximum protection for
the urns.
Our columbaria and mausoleum are open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m.
to 4:00 p.m., and from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
It is also possible to visit at any other time by making an appointment.
Did
you know . . .?
The word "columbarium" comes from the Latin columba,
meaning "dove". Doves nest in church steeples. |
Cemetery
The cemetery at Les Jardins Funéraires Bessette contains four
different burial areas, on a specially landscaped site.
Our cemetery was the first in Quebec to comply with the government
regulations of the Minister of Environment. Due to its special technical
features, caskets are interred above the water level.
Mausoleum
The mausoleum is a funeral building where the deceased are placed
in crypts (spaces in the walls).
Our mausoleum, in its impressive and peaceful decor awaits visitors
in a clam atmosphere.
