Preparing for death

Enduring the terminal phase of an illness is far from simple. Throughout
our lives, we constantly deny death.
When we are confronted with illness, we are forced to look death in
the face. We see that life itself leads us to death. Still, coming
to grips with this is a long hard struggle. To meet this ordeal serenely,
it is vital to give yourself time to think, and talk openly about
it. As we reach the end of the road, we realize that we have been
preparing for death . . . all our lives.
